Time Management: The Unexpected Enemy to Success | Amanda Jones | [email protected]

TedsWoodworking Plans and Projects

Time management is not meant to plunge the self into an unrelenting activity, moving every which way, ending up the day exhausted and achieving next to nothing. I know this is anal but often it is done that way. Time management is the ability to adopt to the limitation of time that is allowed to each of us everyday focussing on the envisioned end result and not necessarily on the movement per se. Failing that will often result to having a speaker who will coach the trainees on many ideas that the workers have heard already and end on advice that will be hard and unrealistic to apply. When choosing a trainer that will conduct the time management training program, it will be very helpful if they have had experiences in working the trenches because trainees can identify these and can have a better relationship with the trainer. Managing Stress at Work What causes distress is primarily the unrealistic demand on the self, often it is not caused by the amount of work achieved but the little time left to do the work that is still to be done. When stress are at manageable levels, it tends to work for us by giving us a sense of immediacy that spurs us to work, even makes us excited about ourselves and our tasks. We are trained to be smart. You and I It is different though when you are hearing it for the first time or while you are already on this page, you want ideas to be reinforced. The fun thing is, your idea may just be as good as mine. We all have that at the back of our heads, unwritten, unspoken and often unheeded. The Benefits of Time Management Aside from the fulfillment that one derives out of being more efficient and productive the effective practice of time management allows the following benefits: A sense of achievement In the workplace, man's worth to the company is measured against the amount of output that is contributed and the influence that it creates. It is prioritizing which, in most cases are easy to identify, learning to say no when the plan is being compromised, yet being flexible enough to realize that events can crop up and re adjusting the plan to achieve a logical conclusion. It is avoidance of time stealers that are the usually temptations to postpone a work plan.
